High Pollution Advisories
High Pollution Advisories (HPA) are issued when the current air quality is poor or conditions are expected to worsen later in the day or the next day. HPAs are issued for three types of pollutants in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality forecasts and issues advisories for *ozone from April through September. Maricopa County Environmental Services forecasts and issues advisories for *carbon monoxide and *particulate matter from October through March. For the pollutants of concern during this time of year, read the current Phoenix metropolitan area's Air Quality Status and Forecasting. The Clean Air Program coordinates announcements and information about
HPAs for all three pollutants. You can receive High Pollution Advisories
email notification by signing up for the HPA
E-Alert system. *Please note that forecasting dates for pollutants may change. |
