Option 7 Reduced Emissions Vehicles This option provides credit for vehicles - either company or employee owned - used for commute or work-related trips. Please note: Fleet vehicles of municipalities, federal or state government, and schools satisfying the alternative fuel vehicle quotas established by the Clean Air Act are not eligible for credit under this option unless they are in "excess" of the requirements stated in the Act. Also, device manufacturer must provide a guarantee that the device will not adversely affect the vehicle warranty or on-board diagnostic systems. Any devices used to convert vehicles to an alternative fuel must be certified by the EPA or CARB (California Air Resource Board). For a list of approved devices, contact MCTRP at 506-6750. Employer Actions
Alternative fuels burn cleaner than other fuel options. Any vehicle with an internal combustion engine can be converted to run on an alternative fuel. Vehicles converted to an alternative fuel can be either bi-fueled (they can operate using alternative fuel or gasoline) or dedicated (they run on an alternative fuel only).
Provide cash incentives or discounted financing to encourage employees to convert their vehicles or purchase a new alternative-fueled vehicle.
