Bus Service Resumes On Camelback Return will aid business owners and bus-riding customers, councilman says (PHOENIX – Aug. 8, 2007) The City of Phoenix Public Transit Department recently resumed service on the central portion of Camelback Road affected by recent light rail construction. The returning route ends a detour between 15th and 23rd Avenues down to Campbell. Service returned to the permanent route on July 30. “The businesses in this corridor really appreciate the traffic from people riding the bus,” said Phoenix City Councilman Tom Simplot, whose district encompasses the affected area. “I’ve had business owners tell me that they’re elated. Their employees are able to get to work easily again and be more productive.” Though bus service is resuming on the permanent Route 50 on Camelback, it will have limited stops in the area while construction continues. Passengers will be able to board and exit the bus at stops at 17th Avenue and Camelback, 21st Avenue and Camelback, and 23rd Avenue and Camelback. The last three service trips of the day will continue to be rerouted along the detour route via Campbell Avenue through August 19. The Red Line and Route 19-19th Ave. will continue to detour using Campbell Avenue. |
