Two contests, great prizes

Two Valley Metro contests start on April 1st, so dust off your bicycle and make sure you’ve got your alternative mode all lined up for the summer ozone season.

Valley Bike Month Contest

The Valley Bike Month contest runs from April 1st through May 7th. All you have to do to qualify is ride your bike to replace a car trip or for fun, take part in any of the Valley Bike Month events, buy a new helmet or have your helmet fitted, or have your bike tuned/checked.

For all the details and to enter the contest, go to the Contest Website and get on your bike—you could be a winner!

    • 3 Grand Prizes: Trek 3900 Mountain Bike from Landis Cyclery

    • A one Night Stay at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale

    • One of four - Family Four Packs of Arizona Diamondbacks Tickets

    • One of ten Bicycle Tune-ups from Tempe Bike

    • One of two $25 Gift Certificates from Southwest Bicycles

    • The Original Pastel of the Great Bike Chase Art from Artist Melissa Wilson

    • A Bicycle Tune-up from Bike Emporium

Summer Ozone Contest

With temperatures on the rise, ozone becomes more of a hazard in the Valley. To avoid the chance of elevated ozone levels and possible exceedances, we encourage everyone to use alternative modes whenever possible.

When you carpool, vanpool, use transit, bike, walk, telework and refuel vehicles after dark, you are encouraged to enter the Summer Ozone Contest—April 1 through September 30. If you use an alternative mode on a high pollution advisory day, you’ll receive a “double entry” – an additional opportunity to win.

And, there’ll be 83 winners this summer – 83 opportunities to win a pair of tickets to an Arizona Diamondback’s home game. Don’t delay, opening day is April 11th!

For contest rules and all the details, go to Summer Ozone Contest.

Register Online for The Great Bike Chase

Once again this year, everyone is invited to The Great Bike Chase Fun Ride on Sunday, May 7, 2006. The ride starts at Hance Park in downtown Phoenix and travels four miles to Chase Field for the Arizona Diamondbacks game against the Cincinnati Reds. Tickets are $14 per person and you can now register and pay online. A confirmation post card will be mailed back after you register.

Bicycle Survey—Your Input is Needed

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) are seeking your input to help plan a regional bikeways system across the Valley. Please click on the link below and complete the Bicycle Survey by May 8. Your answers will help identify bicycle needs, priorities and gaps.

We encourage all interested members of your household to complete a SEPARATE survey. You may receive multiple notices of this survey, so please complete it only once. Click here to complete the Bicycle Survey.
