Enter on the Valley Metro home page. Deadline to enter is one week prior to each game.

Go Lady Sun Devils! ASU Women Ranked in Top 10

If you win ASU women’s basketball tickets in the AMU Contest above, you’ll be watching a Top 10 team in action. ASU is ranked No. 10 in the nation in this week’s USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll. The Sun Devils (7-1) are ranked No. 12 in the AP poll. Their only loss was to No. 6 North Carolina.

LRT Vehicle Moves to Tempe

A life-size mock up of an actual METRO Light Rail Vehicle will be on display at Tempe Beach Park December 17- January 15, 2006. This is your chance to get a sneak peak at the latest transportation technology that will change the way we move in the Valley. For public tour hours go to the METRO LIGHT RAIL website or call 602-254-RAIL (7245). The LRT Vehicle has already been on display in Phoenix and Mesa.

Help!  We Need Some Bodies…

Actually, we need a lot of bodies to carpool, ride the bus, or telework on high pollution advisory days. Stagnant air and that wintertime inversion layer (warmer air that traps cooler air close to the ground) have created ideal conditions for particulate matter 10 microns or less to really pollute our air. You may have noticed that you or your co-workers are coughing more, rubbing their eyes, or having a little more trouble breathing deeply. That can be attributed to the extremely small particles (10 microns is about ¼ the size of a single grain of salt) that get past the body’s natural defenses and are inhaled deeply into the lungs.

You can help by eliminating trips whenever possible by carpooling or riding the bus, cutting down on the number of miles driven, and not using lawn mowers, weed eaters, or blower/vacs in your yard. Don’t create pollution or spread pollution and help us to avoid exceeding federal standards.

If your employer offers incentives to employees who use alternative modes on HPA days, remember, you don’t need to be a regular alternative mode user to take part in HPA incentives—the goal is to clean up our air, avoid exceedances, and live healthier lives!
