Two New Posters in Winter TRP Employer Kit

Just in time to spruce up your TRP bulletin board for the New Year, two new posters will be available for TCs and Site Coordinators in the TRP Winter Kit, which should arrive in the mail this week. The new posters are:

    • Stress Poster- Valley Metro is the best way to get from Point A to point B

    • “Bring Back Blue” Clean Air Poster- It’s enough to take your breath away.

The Winter TRP Kit also has the latest issue of Blue Sky View for TCs and Site Coordinators, a METRO Light Rail 2007 calendar and Rideshare materials order form.

Free Stress Car Giveaways at TCAs This Month

Valley Metro wants to help take the stress out of your employees’ commute. One way we are doing that is by offering a limited quantity of yellow “squishy” stress cars at this month’s TCA meetings. Our theme for the Winter Kit is: “The Less Stress You Feel, the Better Your Commute.”

Check this month’s TCA meeting dates on the Rideshare website and e-mail your Valley Metro account rep to RSVP. “Stress Cars” will be available at TCAs only (while supplies last.)

Get Your TRP Organized This Month

Another good reason to attend this month’s TCA meeting is to get tips and pointers on how to organize your TRP Program for 2007. You can expect a call or visit from a TRP auditor sometime during the year, so why not get ready now and have all your program documentation at your fingertips?

There’s More Than One Way to Get the Bus Book

Beginning with the new Bus Book that takes effect on January 22, Valley Metro will print only a limited quantity of Bus Books. With that in mind, we are asking TCs to encourage employees to use one of the Bus Book alternatives below:

Online trip planner, which allows users to plot a customized itinerary for their travels – with options for the fastest route, fewest number of transfers or shortest walking distance between bus stops.

    • Download an online version (PDF) of the January 2007 Bus Bok with routes and schedules. Or download just the route(s) you need (available January 15, 2007 at ValleyMetro.org.)

Rider alerts page, which features changes to the Bus Book as well as event and construction detours

TCs and Sites can still order Bus Books online, but quantities may be reduced. We make every effort to have Bus Books delivered by January 22, the effective date, but some deliveries may arrive later.

North Phoenix Employers—Route 27 & Route 35 Changes

Modifications to these two north Phoenix routes on January 22 will add six miles more of service. Route 35 will no longer serve Deer Valley Rd. to Rose Garden Ln/23rd Ave, but will continue north on 35th Ave. to serve the area from Pinnacle Peak Rd to Happy Valley Rd. and 29th-23rd Ave. including the Goelet A.C. Community Center and Happy Valley Towne Center.

Route 27 will continue father north of Union Hills, taking over from Route 35 the area from Deer Valley Rd. to Rose Garden Ln. and 29th to 23rd Ave, including the Deer Valley Middle School and Barry Goldwater High School. You can view the new maps online for Route 27 and Route 35.

Employer Kudos—The Renaissance Hotel

In September, The Renaissance Hotel in Scottsdale started a 100% subsidy for the employee Bus Card Plus program. It didn’t take long for employees to catch on to this great benefit. Two years ago the hotel had a 75% SOV rate (75% of employees drove alone to work.) After the Bus Card subsidy was offered, the hotel’s SOV rate improved dramatically to 41%, which is 19 percentage points better than the 60% goal of the Maricopa County TRP program. Kudos to the Renaissance Hotel and TC Rita Kaminski!
