April is Valley Bike Month, and now is a great time to enjoy the wind at your back and pedals under your feet. Bring the family and get pumping at any of the fun rides, races, expos and events below. Check back frequently for updates.

Glendale Family Bike Ride & Green Festival
Follow a 6- or 12-mile bike route along Glendale’s green path to the Glendale Library and the Glendale Green Festival. Helmet fittings & bike checks pre-ride. Features Radio Disney, SRP’s environmental house, and other attractions.
Valet Bicycle Parking at First Friday Art Walk
Valet isn’t just for cars! Free bicycle valet if you ride your bicycle to First Friday
Used Bike Drive
Recycle that old bike! Volunteers from Bike Saviours & Tempe Bicycle Action Group, with the support of REI stores, will be accepting donations of used bikes and bike parts. Both organizations are 501(c)3 nonprofits. Donations are tax-deductible. Donated bikes and parts will benefit Bike Saviours, a local non-profit community program that teaches people to build and maintain their own bikes.
Peoria’s Pioneer Days Family Bike Ride
Six-mile police escorted bike ride through old town Peoria and surrounding neighborhoods. Bike riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes and will lead the Pioneer Days parade. Bike ride starts at 10 a.m. sharp! Late arrivals will not be allowed to participate.
The street will be closed, so participants will need to park in the vicinity and walk or bike to the location.
El Tour de Phoenix
Open to all ages and abilities, the Tour offers 72 and 25-mile courses, all routed throughout Mesa, Arizona, and beginning at Red Mountain Park in Mesa. Routes extend into the beautiful and rugged backdrop of the Salt River Recreation Area and Tonto National Forest. The 72-mile event is a perimeter ride around Red Mountain and the 25-mile course feeds onto the main route. Kids, parents, families and friends are invited to participate in the Tour’s Fun Ride, a 4-mile course routed adjacent Red Mountain Park main event start lines.
Scottsdale Cycle the Arts Bike Ride
It’s free and fun for the entire family and features over a dozen works of art. There will be speakers at several new art installations. Learn fun and interesting facts about each public art piece along the 10-mile route. There will also be a 21-mile route option for cyclists. This is a self-guided tour, but designated Ride Leaders will also be available. For your safety, helmets are required. Includes free admission to SMoCA, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, after your ride.
City of Chandler Family Bike Ride
This 6.4-mile family fun ride includes bike safety information, helmet fittings, giveaways, and an appearance by Radio Disney. The first 100 who pre-register will receive free t-shirts.
Eco Avenues event (Avondale)
Features a bike safety rodeo, bike decorating contest, and helmet safety information.
Bike2BBQ @ Papago Park
Food/Drink: burgers, veggie dogs & beer
Activities: bike games, bike polo, helmet & bike decorating (Theme: Earth Day)
Group Bike Rides: Choose between mountain biking in Papago Park or 2) slower paced family bike rides on the greenbelt. Bike dogs are welcome too at the Papago Park doggie enclosure.
City of Phoenix and Maricopa County joint Bike to Work Day

Mesa Bike to Work Day
Open to City of Mesa employees. Event includes a City department challenge and prize for the longest bike commute.
Scottsdale Bike to Work Day
Riders meet at one of two locations in Scottsdale and ride to downtown Scottsdale. Helmets are required.
Tempe Bike to Work & School Day
All riders will receive free breakfast snacks. The first 50 riders at each location will receive a free T-shirt (one per person). Participants should bike between 6:30 and 8 a.m. to one of six participating breakfast sites: Wildflower Bread Company, Berning’s Fine Jewelry, Whole Foods, Transportation Center, IKEA, REI and Back East Bagels. Experienced Bike Commuters from Tempe Bike Action Group will lead inbound rides from the breakfast site to Tempe Transportation Ctr. Learn about bike commuting, gear & route planning & enjoy the safety and fun of riding together.

Bike safety expo with helmet fittings and an apperance by Radio Disney!
Re-Cycle the River
A self-guided, 5-mile bike ride along the newly opened segment of Skunk Creek Path and surrounding area. Riders will learn how they can do their part to reduce vehicle emissions by riding a bike for short trips. Bring swimsuits and towels to take a dip at Centennial Pool for a cool break along the route. A reusable carrying bag will be provided for participants. Riders may begin any time between 8 - 10 a.m.
Mesa Bike4Life Ride
12-mile roundtrip bike ride from Mesa’s Mountain View Park (NE Corner Lindsay Road & Adobe Road) to the Multi-generational Center. Pre-ride helmet fittings, post rider events. Will include an appearance by Radio Disney. (10:30 - Noon)
Valley Metro Great Bike Chase
Bike safety rodeo, face painting, entertainment, prize drawings, new bike ride & drive area, prize drawings. Includes Valley Bike Month t-shirt and secure bike parking at Chase Field. Police-escorted rides back from to Hance Park begin at the top of the 6th inning, and continue until 30 minutes after the end of the ball game.
Town of Gilbert Bike to Work Day
Breakfast and appetizers, prize drawings, contests, safety materials and demonstrations.
Arizona Bicycle Club Desert Classic
Bike ride featuring 50-, 63-, and 100-mile route options—rain or shine. Cost includes rest stops, pizza at end of ride, and free Arizona Bike Club socks for the first 130 riders.
