Earning Contest Points

Earning commuting points in ShareTheRide is based on alternative mode travel logged in the user’s commute calendar. The point breakdown is shown below:

Riding the Bus. Five (5) base points earned in each direction.
Carpool Driver. Five (5) base points earned for carpooling, and four (4) bonus points for each passenger. To receive full points, the carpool must travel at least nine (9) miles (15 Km). Distances shorter than that will receive proportionate points.
Carpool Passenger. Five (5) base points earned for carpooling, and two (2) bonus points for each passenger. To receive full points, the carpool must travel at least nine (9) miles (15 Km). Distances shorter than that will receive proportionate points.
Compressed Work Week. 0 base points earned in each direction. No pollution savings earned – appears as “Day Off”.
Day Off / Drove Alone. 0 base points earned.
Light Rail. Five (5) base points earned in each direction. Pollution savings earned.
Telework. Five (5) base points earned in each direction. Pollution savings earned.
Vanpool Driver. Five (5) base points earned for vanpooling, plus two (2) bonus points for every passenger. No distance minimum on vanpools required for full points.
Vanpool Passenger. Five (5) base points earned for vanpooling, plus one (1) bonus point for every passenger. No distance minimum on vanpools required for full points.
