The Impact of Gas Prices

Two-thirds (65%) of full time Valley employees report making a change to their driving habits in response to increased gas prices.  Like last year, the most common response taken is to make fewer trips (25%) or to combine trips (17%).  Valley Metro staff can help you identify alternative mode solutions at your location so that all employees know their commuting options.

Other Commuting Options

When you carpool, ride the bus or light rail, walk to work, ride your bike to the office or even take advantage of your employer’s telework or compressed work week options, you are contributing to an important Valley wide objective: cleaner air.  Identifying your personal commuting options and pursuing them is a challenging but rewarding path.  As a community, we must all make an effort to improve the air quality and reduce congestion, and the path to cleaner air begins with each one of us.  Valley Metro is committed to helping residents find alternative mode solutions, and we thank you for visting our web site.

The Valley Metro Business Services staff works with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department (MCAQ) and the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG).  On behalf of MCAQ, our mission is to assist large employers in development and implementation of their company’s Trip Reduction Program, which aims to reduce traffic impacts on air pollution and emissions in the Valley.  For MAG, we seek to educate Valley residents on alternative mode commute options, and encourage them to reduce their single occupant vehicle (SOV) travel throughout the County.  Both programs hope to improve air quality and make Maricopa County a better place to live, work and visit.  To contact the Business Services staff via e-mail, please click here to review the Reps for your work area.
