Traffic Congestion

In an April 2008 survey, 92% of employed residents asked specifically to think about traffic congestion indicated it is a problem in the Phoenix-metropolitan area.  How can you help?  Try promoting carpooling at your worksite!

Bike And Walk

With our excellent year-round weather, cycling or walking is a great alternative mode of transportation for Valley commuters and residents. Not only is cycling or walking a great way to exercise each day, but it cuts down on traffic congestion and reduces air pollution.

Did you know that in Maricopa County there are 1,345 miles of bike lanes, which includes multi-use, paved multi-use, bike lanes, and bike routes on street? That number is growing all the time.

The Maricopa Association of Governments’ Regional Bike Map can help you plan your route - click here to visit the download page.  Remember to follow all laws when cycling and be safe by always wearing a helmet.

Bicycle Stands and Lockers

Bike Stands

There are open air bike stands (some are still referred to as bike racks) available at Metrocenter, Desert Sky, Sunnyslope, and Paradise Valley Transit Centers, Dreamy Draw Park-and-Ride (32th St. at Shea Blvd), the 79th Avenue and McDowell Park-and-Ride, and the Deer Valley Park-and-Ride (Bell Rd. & I-17).

Bike Lockers

Bike lockers are self serve and available on a first come first serve basis. You must bring your own lock to use the locker if available.

To use a bike locker, open the door, roll the bike in, close the door, install lock through the holes on the handle and lock it up. Items may not be stored over night. If they are not removed they are subject to being turned into lost and found.
