Transit Management Committee (TMC)

The next meeting of the Valley Metro RPTA Transit Management Committee will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010.  This meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be held at MAG in the Saguaro room which is located at 302 N.1st Avenue, Suite 200.

RPTA Budget and Finance Subcommittee Meeting

The next meeting of the Valley Metro RPTA Budget and Finance Subcommittee will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. This meeting will be held in the RPTA 7th Floor Conference Rooms located at 302 N. 1st Avenue, Suite 700, Phoenix.

Goodyear Park-and-Ride Groundbreaking

Special Events

Join dignitaries, elected officials and Valley Metro management as they break ground at Goodyear’s new park-and-ride. Funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Federal Transit Administration and local funds. Will serve Express bus route 562.

VMOCC Meeting

Valley Metro Operations and Capital Committee (VMOCC)

The next meeting of the Valley Metro Operations and Capital Committee (VMOCC) will meet on May 18, 2010 from 10:00am-12:00pm and will be held at the Valley Metro RPTA offices, located at 302 N. 1st Avenue Ste. 700, in the 7th floor conference room.

RPTA Finance Oversight Advisory Committee

The next meeting of the Valley Metro RPTA Finance Oversight Advisory Committee will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.

Public Hearing on Transit Service Changes

Valley Metro will conduct three hearings to get feedback on proposed changes to service as early as July. Comments can also be made online using theelectronic comment card. Open house begins at 5:30 PM and public hearing begins at 6:30 PM.

RPTA Board Meeting

The next meeting of the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 12:45 p.m.  This meeting will be held at MAG in the Saguaro Room which is located at 302 N. 1st Avenue, Suite 200, Phoenix.

Severe transit reductions pending!
Recently, the State legislature eliminated a large portion of money ($22 million annually) that has supported public transportation services in the Valley for 30 years. These funds were supplied by Arizona Lottery revenues – referred to as the Local Transportation Assistance Fund (LTAF). The reduction of LTAF was made retroactive to February 1, 2010. Valley cities and towns are currently evaluating how best to address the resulting transit funding shortfalls from both the Lottery and the ongoing decline of sales tax revenues.

Severe transit reductions could occur as early as July 2010.

Public hearings will be held in May 2010 to collect public feedback on the budget cuts and the reduction of transit services.  These hearings are in addition to the hearings held recently by the cities of Chandler, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and METRO light rail.
