Phoenix Citizens Transit Commission
The Phoenix Citizens Transit Commission was established as part of the successful Transit 2000 referendum March 14, 2000 in Phoenix. The referendum instituted a 4/10 cent sales tax in Phoenix to pay for transit improvements. Part of the measure was to create a citizen oversight committee to monitor the expenditure of funds during the 20 years of the tax to ensure accountability to the public for transit expenditures.
Commission members are appointed by the Mayor and City Council Members.
