METRO Light Rail
Community Advisory Boards
An important part of mitigating the impacts of construction is METRO’s Community Advisory Board program. Board members include residents and business representatives adjacent to the light rail route who serve as the voice of the community during construction. Five Community Advisory Boards were in place during the initial construction for METRO. The boards met every month to evaluate the performance of the construction contractor on how well the contractor minimizes impacts to the community, and how well it responds to problems. CAB members made a recommendation to the METRO Board of Directors on whether to award a quarterly financial incentive to contractors for going above and beyond the community’s expectations. A Northwest Extension CAB will be developed Spring 2009.
