50th Street Station Design Milestone

PHOENIX – Valley Metro and city of Phoenix invite the public to attend an update on the design of the 50th Street light rail station. The 60 percent design presentation will include renderings of the station, an update on how the station will be integrated into the roadway and illustrations of station art elements.

Construction of the first new station along the existing Valley Metro Rail system will serve the communities and future development near 50th Street and Washington. The station will provide access to the Ability360 facility and the neighboring business community, as well as support transit-oriented development planned for the area. Ability360 offers and promotes programs designed to empower people with disabilities to take personal responsibility so that they may achieve or continue independent lifestyles within the community.

About Valley Metro: Valley Metro provides eco-friendly public transit options to residents of greater Phoenix and Maricopa County including the planning and operations of a regional bus system and the development and operations of 26 miles of light rail. In Fiscal Year 2016, total ridership for the system was 67 million passengers. Seven high capacity extensions are planned or are under construction that will create a 66-mile system by 2034. Valley Metro also offers transit options including alternative transportation programs for seniors and people with disabilities, commuter vanpools, online carpool matching, bus trip mapping, bicycle safety and telework assistance.
