Maintainers win second at Rail Rodeo

Valley Metro maintenance technicians Alex Caron, Luke Aboud and Michael Dechant placed second out of 15 teams at the 2017 APTA International Rail Rodeo held June 8-11 in Baltimore, MD.
Valley Metro Maintenance Team Wins Second at APTA Rail Rodeo
The APTA International Rail Rodeo Competition encourages excellence and professionalism in rail transit operations.  In the Maintainers Competition, participants were evaluated on their ability to troubleshoot maintenance problems. The team from Bay Area Rapid Transit in Oakland, CA took top honors.

Travis Nugent and Rose Ortiz represented Valley Metro in the Operators Competition, which measures professional skills, including train operation, knowledge of safety regulations, train equipment, and track right-of-way rules and procedures.  The team from Santa Clara Valley Transportation in San Jose, CA placed first out of 14 teams.

Valley Metro had the honor of hosting 21 rail teams from the U.S., Canada and Japan during the 2016 APTA International Rail Rodeo in Phoenix last June.
