Transit Watch

Be Everyday Safe

Launched in 2003, Transit Watch is a nationwide public awareness outreach campaign that encourages the active participation of transit passengers and employees in maintaining a safe transit environment. The campaign was also designed to help foster the role of transit as a safe haven in communities across the country.

The success of Transit Watch depend on your eyes and ears. So if you see something - say something. Please report all suspicious packages, activities, and/or persons by calling 9-1-1 or pushing the emergency call button inside the train or at the platform. Help METRO continue to keep our system safe by looking out for:

  • With exposed batteries, attached wires or tanks
  • That might contain chemicals
  • With an attached message
  • Releasing a cloud, mist, gas, vapor or odor or is seeping fluid

  • Visible signs of nervousness
  • Individuals with aerosol containers
  • Individuals wearing unseasonable clothing - (e.g. excessive layers in summer months)
  • Individuals showing signs of abnormal distress or illness

  • Do not confront suspicious individuals
  • Speak with a transit security officer, bus operator or call the Transit Hotline at (602) 253-5000, Extension 0
  • Or for police emergencies call 9-1-1

When calling the Transit Hotline, please note details of the situation or suspicious person, time of day, bus number, route and direction travelling.
