Introduction

Valley Metro RPTA remains committed to providing efficient and effective transit services to Valley Metro member jurisdictions and the regional community.

Office of the Executive Director

This area is responsible for overseeing agency-wide direction and oversight, agency communications, government relations, and media and public relations and works with the member agencies in providing them with general agency updates. Activities include updates on the transit portion of the Regional Transportation Plan, as well as local and federal transit-related legislative updates. Support is provided to the Executive Director with the development and distribution of all items to the Board of Directors.

Management Services Department

The Management Services Department is responsible for the areas of human resources, procurement, operational projects and procedures, risk management and computer information.

Finance Department

The Finance Department is responsible for providing the Board of Directors and the Authority’s other departments support in the areas of finance, accounting, budgeting, life cycle programming, capital programming, data management,

Planning Department

The Planning Department is responsible for the development of efficient and effective transit service strategies to promote the social and economic well being of the community. Activities include recurring responsibilities of development of the Annual Transit Performance Report, providing operations planning support in cooperation with Valley Metro RPTA members, development of both the short range (up to five years) capital planning program and the long range (up to 20 years) capital plan, and ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Operations Department

The Operations Department is responsible for selected local bus, express bus, paratransit and vanpool services and support throughout the region through the management and monitoring of contracts with private operators. Valley Metro RPTA local bus service is provided through a contract primarily in the East Valley, and by purchasing services throughout the region from other member entities. Paratransit services are provided through two contracts for the East Valley Paratransit (constitutes Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, and Tempe) and the Paradise Valley ADA services. Support services in maintenance, data collection and reporting, and operations supervision are provided for with the RPTA-operated services and upon request by member agencies.

Customer Services Department

The Customer Services Department provides information and customer service for the region through its centralized transit information call center. It also develops and manages the tools to provide easy and efficient access to the agency’s call center. Transit information representatives assist customers with questions about fares, schedules, routes, policies, trip planning, field trips and comments. Included in this area is ADA Certification who administers the ADA application and certification process, as well as supplies identification cards for eligible riders with a disability, seniors 65 and older, Medicare card holders, as well as youths age 6 through 18.

Marketing Department

The Marketing Department includes a full-service production team, Web site development and maintenance, and business development and community outreach staff. Included in this area is the managing of an advertising and public relations firm for assistance in campaigns for the entire agency, media purchasing, trip reduction activities and Clean Air Campaign marketing.
