Changes to East Valley Dial-a-Ride in Gilbert

Due to budget constraints, East Valley non-ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) will be suspended on October 1. Only ADA service will continue for residents who are ADA certified in those areas within three-quarters of a mile of bus service (routes 108, 136, and 156).

This complies with federal ADA laws.

The Town of Gilbert will host two public meetings to discuss the changes to service and travel options for non-ADA Dial-a-Ride passengers.

Mon., Aug. 24, noon to 2 p.m. at the Gilbert Senior Center, 130 N. Oak Street
Thurs., Aug. 27, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the South Area Service Center, 4760 S. Greenfield Road (northwest corner of Greenfield and Queen Creek roads)

Valley Metro offers several alternatives for those non-ADA passengers living in Gilbert and needing transportation.

Coupons for Cab Program: Gilbert residents may request coupon booklets for a nominal co-pay for one book, valued at $10.00. The coupons can then be applied toward the fare and tip of participating taxi cab companies.

Gilbert Volunteer Driver Program/About Care: Gilbert seniors and persons with disabilities are eligible to schedule transportation with About Care, a non-profit organization. About Care recruits volunteer drivers who use their own cars to provide the trips and Valley Metro provides About Care with funds to reimburse the drivers for mileage.
