Phoenix Dial-a-Ride reduces hours to match bus service

The Phoenix Public Transit Department is reducing Dial-a-Ride service in response to budget reductions adopted by the City Council in the 2010-11 budget.  Passengers will no longer be able to book Dial-a-Ride trips after 10 p.m. This change mirrors operation hours of current local bus service, and adheres to federal requirements for paratransit service that match local fixed route bus service and light rail.

Dial-a-Ride service will continue to be offered between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. within city boundaries.  Late night service on Dial-a-Ride will also continue to be provided at light rail stops along the train route during late-night light rail weekend hours.

This Dial-a-Ride service reduction was enacted as part of the city of Phoenix budget process in March.  A variety of transit service changes were required to bring the city’s Transit 2000 and other funding programs into balance, including staffing reductions and changes to local bus routes.
