PHOENIX—Ahwatukee residents will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed re-routing and schedule change for the ALEX neighborhood circulator during two Open House events. This action is being taken as part of citywide budget balancing efforts.
The first Open House event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m.- noon in front of the AMC 24 Theatres, 4915 E. Ray Rd. The second will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Pecos Community Center, Multi-purpose Room, 17010 48th St.
The planning committee, appointed by Phoenix Councilman Sal DiCiccio, is recommending that the ALEX circulator change its current route to service significant portions of Chandler Boulevard, instead of Liberty Lane. The committee is also proposing to reduce the current 30-minute-frequency to 40-minute frequency in order to cut costs.
The ALEX service will remain free. Click here for current and proposed route changes, as well as the proposed schedule.
Comments gathered during the Open House events will be presented to the citizens planning committee for consideration before the final routing and schedule are finalized. The new route will be implemented on Monday, July 27, 2009.
