Valley Metro, in partnership with Cox Communications and Mesa Public Schools, distributed close to 70 computers and Cox internet service to pre-qualified students and families at Holmes and Lincoln elementary schools. The internet service is provided through Cox’s Connect2Compete program. In total, families in the Mesa Public Schools have received over 140 computers and Cox internet services through the generous partnership.
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, one Valley Metro employee is transitioning from a full time bus operator to a singing Cupid when he’s not behind the wheel of a Valley Metro bus.
Roy Murray has been a Valley Metro bus operator for 12 years. As a full-fledged people person and entertainer, he has combined his passion for people and performance by being a member of the East Valley Barbershop Quartet.
Valley Metro is now accepting entries for the 18th Annual Design a Transit Wrap Contest. The contest encourages high school students to create artwork that promotes public transit from their point of view. The winning design will become a vehicle wrap on a bus and train for an entire year. The deadline is Friday, February 16. To learn more about the contest and how to enter, click here.
On Monday, February 19, 2018, Valley Metro bus and rail will operate on a Sunday schedule in observance of Presidents Day. RAPID and Express buses will not be in operation.

Rail Arrives on the Gilbert Road Extension
As part of Valley Metro’s new “Respect the Ride” code of conduct, fare zone striping is being installed at each rail station.
The newly installed signs and clearly marked “fare zones” help to raise passenger awareness of the rules of riding as well as to more strongly delineate the enforcement areas.
