For business owners in South Phoenix impacted by light rail construction, Valley Metro and Kiewit construction, the contractor for the light rail extension, have established the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub Community Office.
The South Central Community Office is a place where residents, business owners, and the general public can visit and ask questions about the light rail extension. Weekly briefings ensure office staff is up-to-date on the status of the project.

When visiting the Community Outreach Office, visitors will see detailed maps of the new extension and exact locations of new rail stations. Helpful staff are onsite to answer any questions about construction activities. The Community Office is staffed with a Spanish speaker to ensure there are no language barriers for those visiting the office. The office, “is available for business owners and community members to speak with project staff, ask questions and get more information on the project and the business assistance program,” said Terry Gruver, Valley Metro’s Interim Community Relations Manager.
Although health and safety guidelines have limited some planned activities and events at the office, “we are looking forward to resuming those as soon as possible, including hiring events and informational meetings with the project contractor that are currently conducted online, ‘ Gruver said.

The South Central Extension/Downtown Hub Community Office is located at 5040 S. Central Avenue in Phoenix. The hours of operation are Monday thru Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday's office hours are noon – 7 p.m. The office is closed on Friday. On the first and third Saturday, the hours are 9 a.m. to noon. Appointments are available by calling (602) 687-8585.
