One of the best things about living in the Valley is getting to sample from the wide range of cultures that make it their home.. One example of this is the Asian District in Mesa, an ever-growing cultural destination.

The Asian District is located along a two mile stretch of Dobson Road in Mesa. It’s easy to know when you’re there thanks to the new blue “Asian District” street signs found around the area. The northern part of the district is conveniently located across the street from the Sycamore/Main St light rail station and the Main St and Sycamore Transit Center. This fall, the local community will celebrate an update of the station’s point of interest sign to say Asian District. You can arrive at the transit center using bus routes 30, 40, and 96. The 96 bus route will also take you anywhere in the Asian District.

The district is full of grocery stores that can spice up your pantry like Hmart, Mekong Supermarket, Asiana Market and AZ International Marketplace. These stores sell a wide variety of foods and brands you can’t find at most supermarkets. I’ve visited several of the supermarkets in the Asian District and have made some great meals out of the ingredients I have found there.

The district is also home to a variety of restaurants that will take you on a world tour. From dining at Manna BBQ to grabbing take out Unphogettable or treating yourself to Two Hands Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs, there’s always something new to try. When I visited the district recently, customers were lining up out the door in the summer heat to grab a corn dog, so they must be really good.

The Asian District has more than just food. You can shop for new beauty products at Tok Tok Beauty, emulate the style of Korean pop stars at the Pop Hair salon or grab a one –of-kind souvenir at Hong Kong Gifts. To find out more about the Asian District, visit its official website.
