Cool spots to visit this summer | Valley Metro

As many are currently dealing with the rising prices at the pump, some are leaning towards public transit to give some relief to their pockets. Not only are people turning toward light rail to save some gas, but they’re also noticing how easily accessible it is to reach fun destinations and local businesses around the Valley. After all, Valley Metro exists to connect communities and enhance lives. So why put up with all the traffic, road rage, confusing one-way streets, and construction? No need to fear, Valley Metro is here!

Here are some spots I recently visited, and I think you should too.

Take a sip of all things Arizona.

If you’re looking for something to do after a downtown event or are just in the area, I recommend stopping at Little Rituals. A sleek 21 and over establishment with impressive cocktails and delicious bites. You can find it on the fourth floor of the Residence Inn/Courtyard by Marriot. Central Avenue and Madison Street exactly. Depending on which direction you're starting from, you can effortlessly take the light rail and get off at Jefferson/1st or Central/Washington, with about a five-minute walk.

Once you’re there, the hostess guides you through a beaded curtain into what I would call a dark eclectic interior room with intimate lighting and a grand window overlooking downtown Jefferson St.

Little Rituals

Big City Nights – A sophisticated, European – style sour with sultry spice, dark fruit & dry herbs.

And there’s no lie to the name of this drink! This drink is topped with a rice paper image of well-known things from Arizona. You can see the iconic Mr. Lucky’s music venue, Durant’s, Orpheum Theatre, and our very own, light rail!

Little Rituals is open on Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Sun from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Fri/Sat from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. So, next time you’re leaving a downtown event or want to try a new place, stop by, and support this local business.

Uptown Farmers Market

Are you looking for organic greens, needing a fix for some good coffee, or interested in handcrafted goods? Find it here.

Saturday mornings at the Uptown Farmers Market are a must-visit. I’ve been shopping at the Uptown Farmers Market for a couple of years now and I’m never disappointed with what I see. It is centrally located at the North Phoenix Baptist Church, southeast corner of Central Avenue and Bethany Home Road. Bus routes 0 and 60 pass by this intersection and a connection is possible wherever you start. Approximately 140 local Arizona vendors are featured indoors and outdoors.  The market is open to all. You can visit every Saturday morning from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and hours can vary during the season. Family, friends, and pets are welcomed too! Please remember Valley Metro’s pet policy. An enclosed pet carrier that fits on the lap or beneath the seat is required if you decide to bring your pet along. Remember to stay safe, hydrated, and enjoy!
