Downton Tempe

When the sun goes down the Valley begins to party and there’s no better way to join in the fun than by riding the light rail or bus. Valley Metro provides a safe and affordable way to get home after a night of hanging out with friends or meeting new people. Not sure where to go? There are plenty of places to eat, drink and play near our light rail stations and bus stops.

Try Bonus Round, an arcade bar across the street from the Central Ave/Camelback rail station. It has free arcade games, pinball and even board games if you want a break from all the screens.

Another destination with hot spots nearby is the 3rd St/Jefferson station. Located between Chase Field and the Talking Stick Resort Arena is an area of restaurants and bars. In fact, the Crown Public House is so close to the station you can listen to music from the pub while waiting for your next train.

And it’s not just bars! Across the street from our Jefferson/1st Ave station is CityScape, which includes a comedy club and a bowling alley where you and your friends can spend the night knocking back a few beers or taking down a few pins.

For college students, a trip to Mill/Third St takes you to party central. I took a stroll along Mill Avenue on a Thursday night to check out the scene. Music filled the air as I saw people heading into local nightspots to dance, grab dinner or buy ice cream to sweeten their night. The downtown area is also home to freshly laid tracks where the Tempe Streetcar will one day connect riders along Tempe’s busiest scenes.

If you have any issues during your trip, help is at your fingertips with the Alert Valley Metro app. The app can be downloaded for free on Google Play and the App Store.

Especially as party season kicks into high year,  you won’t need to worry over parking or finding a designated driver. Let Valley Metro be your party bus…or train!
