Note: Customers who purchase Reduced Fare will be asked for ID. Please be prepared.

Reduced fares on local bus routes and light rail are available to youth ages 6-18, seniors age 65 and above, persons with disabilities and Medicare cardholders. Passengers must have valid proof of eligibility to use reduced fares.
Proof of Eligibility
- Persons with a disability: Valley Metro Reduced Fare ID card.
- Seniors age 65 and older: Valley Metro Reduced Fare ID card, Driver’s License or State ID card.
- Youth ages 6-18: Valley Metro Reduced Fare ID card, Driver’s License, State ID card or high school Student ID with photo and current school year.
- Medicare cardholder: Upon request, proof of identity must be shown.
How to Obtain a Valley Metro Reduced Fare ID
Effective April 1, 2012, guidelines were changed for the Valley Metro Reduced Fare ID program to ensure only those individuals that meet the reduced fare eligibility criteria receive reduced fare ID cards. In addition, application processing guidelines have changed and the cost of a Valley Metro photo ID has increased to $5. - Application must be mailed to Valley Metro with supporting documentation.
- Approved applicants will be sent an eligibility letter.
- Eligibility letter must be presented at a photo ID site to obtain a photo ID card.

Photo ID Program
Customers will need to submit at new application for a new or replacement ID. The card now costs $5. Youth, Seniors and Medicare cardholders can obtain a same-day ID at a photo ID Site.

Homeless Service Provider Program
The City of Phoenix’s Homeless Service Provider Program is for approved 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, schools or government agencies serving individuals who are “Homeless” as defined in Title 42, Chapter 119, Subchapter I, Section 11302 of the United States Code. Qualified organizations may purchase Full Local fare All-Day, 7-Day, 15-Day and 31-Day passes at half price for their clients. Fare Enforcement
At Valley Metro we are all about adventure, but not about breaking the rules. Those caught riding a local route without payment of the applicable fare will be subject to a fine ranging from $50 to $500. For more information on fees and hearings, call (602) 253-5000, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
