In Arizona, 1 in 4 children, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 7 seniors struggle with hunger. Summertime is an important time of year to restock shelves and pantries. To help children and families in need of healthy food throughout the year, Valley Metro and United Food Bank are partnering to host a Stuff-a-Bus event as part of the Summer of a Million Meals campaign.
The Stuff-a-Bus event will gather food donations from the public, which will be put into a specially-wrapped Valley Metro bus featuring Summer of a Million Meals graphics. The campaign intends to deliver one million meals to children in need this summer.
With the Stuff-a-Bus food drive, Valley Metro helps deliver more than people. The public transit system helps connect communities and enhance the lives of local communities by partnering with engineering and construction firms. Together, we provide internships for middle school and high school students along the future South Central Extension/Downtown Hub and Northwest Extension II in Phoenix.
