Valley Metro and the town of Gilbert examined short and long-term transit investments to inform the transit vision of Gilbert’s Transportation Master Plan. 

The study team completed the Final Implementation Plan, which includes transit service concepts and funding information. The Final Implementation Plan was presented to Town Council in summer 2022 and approved.

Gilbert Transit Study

Valley Metro, in partnership with the town of Gilbert, is identifying and analyzing priority short and long-term transit investments, informing the transit vision of Gilbert’s Transportation Master Plan, which is being updated concurrently. This study will analyze Gilbert’s rapidly developing landscape and reexamine existing transit recommendations to best serve growing transportation needs while managing increased traffic. Overall, the recommendations of this study will: 

  • Improve internal circulation
  • Enhance commuter service offerings
  • Provide new regional service connections
  • Serve new residential and employment centers

As a component to Gilbert’s Transportation Master Plan update, all results from this study will be included in the Transportation Master Plan. This study will also be used as a tool to identify service enhancements for prioritization in funding both locally and for the anticipated Proposition 400 extension.

Gilbert Transportation Master Plan

Through the Transportation Master Plan, the town of Gilbert will develop a 20-year vision for the Town’s multi-modal transportation network to better connect people and places. Ultimately, the Transportation Master Plan will develop a prioritized list of transportation improvement and policies that will drive future funding decisions.
