Tempe/Mesa

The Tempe/Mesa Streetcar Feasibility Study collected data to identify preliminary corridors as potential extensions to the Tempe Streetcar.

The Tempe/Mesa Streetcar Feasibility Study began in May 2018 and concluded in Summer 2020.

The study evaluated corridors in a two-tier process to prioritize the top 5 corridors. See map below for final results of this study.

The results of the final evaluation led the project team to rank the five corridors as follows: 1. Rio Salado Parkway East. 2. Rural Road. 3. Dobson/Southern/Country Club. 4. Mill Avenue. 5. Rio Salado Parkway West.

 

Valley Metro worked with the cities of Tempe and Mesa to evaluate potential high-capacity transit options in Tempe and Mesa. The Tempe/Mesa Streetcar Feasibility Study evaluated possible streetcar extensions to connect the Tempe Streetcar with key regional activity centers, employment destinations and emerging multi-unit residential developments in Tempe and Mesa.
